Wood Buffet Table

If you ask most people what exactly a wood buffet table is, they would probably give you a rather strange look. The truth is, it’s not something we tend to worry about in our everyday lives, but the wood buffet table is present in a surprising number of major occasions. These include anywhere from funerals to weddings, award ceremonies to large scale parties. Many people may even select a wood buffet table for their lounge as a piece of furniture for aesthetic purposes as well as their obvious functionality. Restaurants, on the other hand, which offer buffet-style dining, may opt for a more contemporary buffet table, often using metal alone or metal in combination with wood.

Wood buffet tables don’t always have to be four-legged with empty space in the middle; many often have no distinct legs and are instead made with sideboards, effectively making the buffet table a wooden cuboid. These are more contemporary styles. Or, more traditionally, a buffet table may have cupboards at the bottom and a back board which extends beyond the top of the table, also known as a ‘Hutch’. Such pieces of furniture begin to extend beyond the normal functions of a buffet table, and into the realm of an important piece of kitchen furniture. The buffet hutch is the largest of all available buffet tables, vertically at least. It can house many ornaments, kitchen necessities such as plates, decorations and anything else that is appropriate to your kitchen. Wood buffet table hutches are not generally used in gatherings or functions for eating, since they are of a limited length, whereas buffet tables made for eating purposes are specifically designed to be very long.

If you want a buffet table with a cabinet, but without the hutch, you can consider the buffet cabinet. These may be used as buffet tables at any function, or as a piece of furniture, with the added benefit of having drawers and cupboards. These drawers and cabinets may house plates, napkins, cutlery and other kitchen utensils, or they may simply be left empty and thus serve only as a display element.

Whichever wood buffet table you choose, you must first consider what function you want your buffet table to play. Is it just an item for show? Or are you going to use it heavily? Is it for a special occasion, or multiple occasions? If the item is just for show, consider a wood buffet table that is traditional, such as a classic french country hutch buffet table. If it is going to be put under heavy use consider a darker color, and make sure to invest in suitable table cloths and ask the seller to varnish or finish it as appropriate. If you are going for a special occasion, consider the style of the occasion first and then match the wood buffet table to that. The most important factor in choosing the right buffet table for you is common sense: never pay more than $2000 for a quality wood buffet table, and you can often get them for around $1000, as a general rule.
